Respect Society and its People: 100% Sweatshop-Free Apparel
The sweatshop-free (now increasingly called "sweat-free") progressive movement has swept the globe. With so much focus on trimming costs, companies for years have assembled their products in foreign countries with total disregard for standard wages and safe working conditions. Protests, petitions, and public pressure have helped promote this hidden secret so prevalent in today's apparel industry.

302 is a member of this sweat-free revolution and considers itself a socially conscious establishment. Keeping with this theme, we refuse to contribute to sweatshop conditions of any type. Each 302 shirt is printed on textiles from American Apparel out of L.A. They support fair wages and benefits for all their employees. Shirts are silk-screened locally in Austin, Texas. We have created the 302foundation to support others who share our ideals.

We Do Not Give in to Mass Consumerism
The mainstream consumer may never appreciate the message inherent in our clothing, but that's ok. We do our best to promote positivity and self-empowerment within an individuals' life. Unfortunately, there are people who go through their lives swarmed with negativity, convinced it follows them everywhere they go, convinced they will be eternally doomed to be down on their luck. These people do not embrace our message of inspiration and may not see it as even realistic. The only way to reach these negative thinkers is through unique, self-empowered individuals like you. Promoting positive energy in your life is the only way to counter the negative energy in others.

We Do Not Save Money at the Expense of Personal Morals
Competition has driven businesses to drive down prices in order to maintain an edge. We have nothing against lower prices. However it is when hidden-to-consumer sacrifices are made to decrease prices that create moral dilemmas. One of the most popular ways to cut prices is to cheapen the production process, many times at the detriment of worker conditions. 302 promotes socially conscious business practices as much as we promote great products. This is a strong part of our moral fabric and can be seen throughout our business practices. 302designs was founded from the beginning with an intense focus on ethical decision making. We refuse to compromise our high moral and ethical standards for anything.

We Do Not Think with an Old-Fashioned Corporate Mentality
"It's just business." That's certainly a phrase you will never hear uttered by any individual involved with 302. This sadly common statement in today's society is normally preceded by a morally objectionable action by the offending party. The idea of maintaining separation from the professional world and the personal world is why today's generation is so jaded about business as whole. The focus of business seems to have over time put more concentration on making money, less time bring a long-term positive force in its customers lives, and considerably less time enacting beneficial programs to help society. This is what 302 views as the old-fashioned business mentality. These business people do not think they can make a difference in the lives of their customers or in the outcome of society.

But we think otherwise, and value individuals that believe in the powerful impact of the individual.

302 is a member of a larger movement surging through the world of business that looks at things in a whole new way. Together we see business as a vehicle to make a difference in people's lives, to respect the environment through eco-conscious processes, and to give back to society. These revolutionary organizations view business not with the arbitrary purpose of making money, but instead we realize that the root of it all is to make the world a happier and better place.

Our creative process has evolved significantly over time as we've accumulated more and more talented individuals interested in being involved with 302. We've evolved to a collaborative process that embraces the diversity of the talented artistic minds of our poets and designers.

302 is comprised of a team of poets and artists who collaboratively work together in a very organic process in order to produce a very organic product. Inspired by lifestyle, nature, art, fashion and culture, 302designs line of t-shirts are conceptualized through a very unique and organic process in itself. Walker and Nacif share with the designers several themes for inspiration. The designers then create and submit a few pieces of artwork that correlate with one of the themes. The chosen artwork is then sent over to a team of Fashion Poets who interpret the artwork lyrically. They then create a unique phrase that encapsulates the feeling of the art. The lyric is then sent back to the designer to integrate seamlessly into the artwork itself. This is formulated into vector artwork and sent back to headquarters for approval and are silk-screened on location in Austin, TX.
