Dealing with Depression

Beliefnet has a very popular article (judging by its number of ‘diggs’) entitled Top 12 Depression Busters. The fact that so many readers not only read the article, but digg it for others to find, means that there are a good many of us who struggle with depression.
Whether it is biochemical or caused by external stress, depression is a dangerous condition that can debilitate the sufferer if left unchecked. Some warning signs include:
- marked change in sleeping patterns
- sudden weight gain or loss
- listlessness, lack of interest in favorite activities
- social isolation
If you are experiencing these or any of the other symptoms of depression, it is important to see a doctor and discuss.
In addition, the Beliefnet article above contains tips about how to combat depression that are extremely helpful. See friends, do something you enjoy, start a project or pray (if you are so inclined)… these are some great ways to lift your spirits and help you see that it is not as bad as you think.
